Sponsor & Exhibitor Guide
How to Measure Event Sponsor and Exhibitor ROI
Sponsor ROI should connect event activity to outcomes the sponsor actually values. Lead count matters, but so do lead quality, companies reached, meetings, engagement, visibility, and what happens after the event.
Start with the sponsor’s objective
A sponsor focused on brand awareness should not be judged by the same scorecard as an exhibitor whose primary goal is qualified sales conversations. Agree on the objective before deciding which metrics matter.
Useful measurement categories
Lead capture
Total leads, unique people, and repeat interactions where applicable.
Company reach
How many distinct organizations were represented in captured leads.
Lead quality
Whether records include enough context—such as company, email, notes, or tags—to support follow-up.
Engagement
Meetings, scans, session participation, content interaction, or other relevant touchpoints.
Visibility
Placement, impressions, speaking opportunities, or branded experiences when those can be measured credibly.
Downstream outcomes
Follow-up activity, opportunities, memberships, sales, renewals, or other outcomes tracked after the event.
Avoid a single vanity metric
A large lead count with incomplete contact details may be less valuable than a smaller list of well-qualified conversations. Report both volume and readiness so sponsors can understand the difference.
